Sevilla's Kanouté: 'No Problems' With Palestine Fine
Sevilla striker Freddy Kanouté appeared calm and relaxed today as he spoke in front of the press about the fine he has received for his message of support to Palestine.
The Malian lifted his top to reveal a t-shirt with Palestine across the front after he scored against Deportivo La Coruña and seemingly has no regrets about the incident.
"I am calm with my conscience, and I believe that I did what I had to do," he declared.
The striker went on to thank, "everyone for the great support shown after the incident", and said that he has, "no problems", paying the €3,000 fine imposed by the Competition Committee.
Kanouté received plenty of thanks after the incident, not only from fans but also from the Palestine embassy in Spain.
The Malian is known to be a devout Muslim and, along with Seydou Keita, is one of the best known representatives of the religion in La Liga at the moment.
It seems likely that the striker will play against Deportivo La Coruña again this evening when the sides meet in their second leg of the Copa Del Rey.
Kanouté came off the bench to devastating effect against Depor at the weekend as he set up two goals to see them comeback from 1-0 down to win 1-3.
